Speakers

Sunil Prashara

President & Chief Executive Officer of the Project Management Institute (PMI)


As President & Chief Executive Officer of the Project Management Institute (PMI), Sunil Prashara is the lead advocate for PMI’s global organization, serving more than three million professionals working in nearly every country of the world. His primary responsibility is to implement PMI’s global strategic plan with a priority on strategic focus, customer centricity and organizational agility. This includes expanding the PMI footprint globally, as well as digitizing PMI’s offerings and platforms to benefit its members and a variety of other stakeholders. The plan will also continue to enhance and advocate for the profession of project management.

Sunil was named CEO of PMI in March of 2019. He brings more than three decades of valuable global leadership to PMI, with a solid track record of setting and delivering strategy, managing large scale transformation agendas, and meeting growth targets for international organizations.

Prior to joining PMI, he served as CEO of i1too Ltd in the U.K., a sales accelerator for digital start-ups, which he founded in 2016 and grew internationally. He previously served as CEO of Expereo International, and also held numerous executive leadership positions throughout the information and communications technology and telecommunications industries. His extensive multi-functional, multi-cultural, multi-geography experience includes managing sales, operations and digital transformation for companies such as Vodafone, Nokia, Accenture and Perot Systems (NTT). As a business executive, he has developed an appreciation for project management expertise, and understands from an “outside-in” perspective how PMI can expand its reach globally.

Sunil speaks Punjabi and Hindi. He is a graduate of the University of London and resides in the U.K. with his wife Kavita and two sons Kamran and Raghav. He enjoys golf, boxing, martial arts and traveling.

Al Shalloway

Director, Thought Leadership for Agile at Scale Programs, Project Management Institute


Al is the co-author of 5 books and the creator of FLEX (Flow and Lean for Enterprise Transformation). He was a co-founder of Lean Systems Society and Lean Kanban University. He was the first SPC Trainer outside of SAI, a gold partner and contributor to SAFe but is no longer affiliated with SAI.  His work currently focuses on helping organizations be more effective in adding value to their customers by working with both the business side and development side of the organization. He has a master’s in computer science and Engineering from MIT and a Masters in Mathematics from Emory University. 

Mark Lines

Vice President, Disciplined Agile (DA), Project Management Institute


Mark is the co-creator of the Disciplined Agile toolkit with Scott W. Ambler and co-author of several books on Disciplined Agile (DA). Mark has over 25 years of experience helping organizations around the world to be successful with project delivery using Agile, Lean, Traditional, and Hybrid approaches. He has a record of successfully transforming entire organizations to business agility so that they can rapidly and continuously deliver value to their customers and other stakeholders. Scott Ambler

Vice President, Chief Scientist of Disciplined Agile, Project Management Institute


Scott leads the evolution of the Disciplined Agile (DA) tool kit and is an international keynote speaker. Scott is the (co)-creator of the Disciplined Agile (DA) tool kit as well as the Agile Modeling (AM) and Agile Data (AD) methodologies. He is the (co-)author of several books, including Choose Your WoW!, An Executive’s Guide to the Disciplined Agile Framework, Refactoring Databases, Agile Modeling, Agile Database Techniques, and The Object Primer 3rd Edition. Brantlee J. Underhill, CAE, CSPO

Managing Director, North America, Project Management Institute


Brantlee leads Project Management Institute’s (PMI) North America region business as well as global chapter and volunteer programs. A Certified Association Executive (CAE) and nonprofit executive, Brantlee aligns PMI’s strategy and operational plans to serve PMI’s North American market and volunteer-lead communities to empower people to make their ideas a reality. In her 20+ years with PMI, Brantlee has led community, organizational and volunteer leadership transformation to achieve greater engagement and value outcomes for PMI members around the globe. She has led the establishment of PMI offices in Dubai, Singapore and Brussels; coaches teams in change and stakeholder engagement; and co-led the start-up team for implementing PMI’s culture and change management capability.

Galen Townson

PMI Board Member, Audit Committee Chair and Disciplined Agile Instructor


Galen Townson is a strategic systems leader with 28 years in strategic execution, projects, complex change programs to AU$500 million, and PMOs to $5B, to general manager level, for education, energy, government, finance and for-purpose sectors, including the United Nations. He currently leads the portfolio management office (PMO) for Western Australia’s Department of Communities, supporting pathways for individual, family and community wellbeing.

Mr Townson has over 20 project management-related professional credentials, including disciplined agile, scaled agilist, project and program, portfolio, benefits, risk and PMO management. He has an EMBA and postgrads in Social Impact, Sustainability and Climate Policy, Advanced Project Management, and Applied Positive Psychology, and teaches MBA project management, strategy execution, and agile program leadership.

Joining PMI in 2000, Mr Townson served in chapter roles from 2009, as a chapter president, and region mentor for PMI in Australia and New Zealand, and now serves on the PMI board as a director and the audit committee chair.

He enjoys being present, maintaining curiosity, traveling and sailing, and learning with his young family. He also has active interests in sustainability, social enterprise, design thinking and systems practice, and coaches and mentors for purpose, impact and wellbeing.

Daniel Gagnon

Organizational Agility Advisor
Disciplined Agile Fellow, Instructor Trainer and Coach


Daniel Gagnon is an organizational agility advisor, coach, and trainer with close to three decades of diversified project management and IT experience. For the past ten years, he has specialized in spreading the values and principles of the agile movement, mostly within extremely large organizations.

He is one of two PMI Disciplined Agile Fellows and 9 Instructor Trainers in the world; was an active and vocal member of the DA advisory council for years; has contributed snippets of thought to 3 books on DA, and trained hundreds of CDA, CDAPs, CDAIs, and more recently DALSMs on all levels of the DA toolkit (DAD, DA Enterprise, DA DevOps).

Over the years, he has thus provided training to more than 2,000 individuals in DA, Scrum, SAFe, the PMI Montreal Chapter’s ACP test preparation course, a 40-hour agile project management class at Montreal’s McGill University, and finally the Agile Leadership Journey for leaders and executives.

His agile coaching and training engagements over the past 10 years have been with clients from the Financial sector as well as Public utilities and government entities (Federal, Provincial and Municipal). He has coached at all levels, from executives to teams, as well as diverse roles (POs, Scrum Masters, Project Managers, Business Analysts, Business Intelligence specialists, etc.)

Daniel describes himself as a passionate host leader and ethical disruptor. When not disrupting, he likes to cycle, collect early 20th century first editions of novels by British and American writers, and paint watercolours of urban landscapes he has photographed in his travels.

Stephen Townsend

Networks Engagement Facilitator, Project Management Institute


Stephen Townsend is PMI’s Networks Engagement Facilitator. In this capacity, he enables PMI’s thought leadership and knowledge activities leveraging PMI’s global community of subject matter experts. His contributions include such works as Integrating Program Management and Systems Engineering: Methods, Tools and Organizational Systems for Improving Performance co-development with MIT and the International Council on Systems Engineering and published by Wiley in 2017; the Agile Practice Guide developed in partnership with the Agile Alliance; Managing Change in Organizations: A Practice Guide; and the transformation of the PMBOK® Guide – Seventh Edition. He has co-authored research papers and studies with APQC and the Association for Talent Development and produced PMI’s capstone report, PMIAA: Strengthening the Government Delivery Foundation.

Stephen has worked within PMI since 1999 in the areas of member services; chapter/community relations; business/government relations; strategic alliance; and global development.

Brijesh Shah

Vice President for Training & Development, PMI Gujarat Chapter


Brijesh Shah is a IIM-A Alumnus having a 19+ years of rich experience in IT Industry. Brijesh is currently working with SPEC India as a Delivery Head - Enterprise Accounts.

Brijesh has been in leadership roles and managing portfolio for Business Intelligence and Analytics along with various enterprise accounts for multiple domains. Brijesh has exposure to work with small to enterprise organization has given him good insight in full life cycle of projects from conception to utilization at client site. Brijesh is an agile coach and specialist in building high performance team and bringing agility at organization. Brijesh is on call agile coach and providing the exclusive consultancy to transform the organization and bring the enterprise level agility for start-ups and corporates.

Currently, Brijesh is a PMI Gujarat Chapter Vice President for Training & Development and passionate for project management advocacy. He has served as PMI India Champion volunteer for advocacy of the Project Management. Brijesh has conducted many Project Management and Agile Practices Webinars/Workshops/Trainings for PMI Chapters, Corporates, Renowned University as well as SPEC India where he is currently working.

Nishore C L

Director Engineering Services, Cognizant Technology Solutions


A Senior Management Profile in Service Delivery and Product development domain with more than two decades of experience in strategy, planning and execution. Throughout his career, he has donned multiple hats across delivery organisations in various capacities serving clients across the globe as client relationship manager, delivery owner, program manager, etc. He is also an agile enthusiast and has worked with multiple companies in his stints as product owner, engineering head, product line manager, etc, helping to develop products from concept to deployment supporting product strategy and engineering roadmap for digital transformation initiatives. Dr Kamala R

Assistant Professor, Department of Pulmonary Medicine, Government Medical College Trivandrum


Dr Kamala R has done her undergraduate and postgraduate course in the premier institute Government Medical College Trivandrum. She has worked as a specialist in Kerala State Government Health Services Department for 8 years and in medical education for the past 3 years. As the Assistant Professor in the Department of Pulmonary Medicine, she is currently a faculty for training the medical officers in Government Service as well as teaching for undergraduate and post graduate medical students. Dr Kamala is the Technical Committee Member of Kerala State Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) program and a Technical Expert for the Kerala State Clinical Establishments Registration and Regulation Act. She was part of the medical team deputed to set up a COVID care facility at the Government Medical College Kasaragod in April 2020. She is one amongst the Frontline Warriors from the medical profession who have worked tirelessly during this pandemic.

Dr. Rupesh Kumar Pati

Associate Professor, Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode


Dr. Rupesh Kumar Pati is an alumnus of IIT Roorkee with close to 14 years of experience in academia at the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK), Kerala. His prior experience was as a scientist at the Indian Space Research Organization. In ISRO he was a part of a team responsible for planning and monitoring various prestigious PSLV, GSLV missions.

He has received the prestigious Indo Shastri Partnership Development Seed Grant (2012-13) to work in HEC Montréal, Canada for "Understanding and Designing Sustainable Pharmaceutical Supply Chains for Indian and Canadian Industries". He was also awarded the Emerald/ IAM management research fund award 2010 (supporting the dissemination of knowledge for social good in India) by pursuing research on “Reverse Logistics in Indian Pharmaceutical Industry” (along with Ms. Sushmita A Narayana). At IIMK he is actively involved in research published in the domain of sustainable supply chain management. He has published more than 23 top International Journal of repute like Transportation Research- Part E, Production Planning and Control, Resources Conservation and Recycling, Journal of Cleaner Production, OMEGA-Management Science, International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Logistics Management, Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management, OPSEARCH, etc. His current research interest is in the sustainable supply chain, sustainable business, and project management.

Krishnan Unni

Associate Partner, Delivery Leader - IBM


Krishnan Unni, in his current role, leads Project delivery for large portfolio of applications for one of the largest global companies as client. He has a corporate experience of 28 years, of which 16 years are with IBM. His industry experience is characterized by managing large, complex, first of a kind, unique transformational projects involving large teams. The diverse set of activities handled has enriched his knowledge in multiple industries like Telecom, Automotive, Consumer Goods, Manufacturing and Healthcare. This goes hand in hand with the experience of handling large programs and projects on IT delivery, involving latest technologies and using Agile methodologies.

He has won IBM Manager Champion (an elite group of 0.02% managers) and IBM Best Manager awards. Krishnan Unni is certified as PMP with Agile and Scaled Agile certifications also to his credit.
