Technology is not just changing the way we work, but also the way we think and the way in which we approach problems. It has led to the proud rise of a new breed of Indians who are finding niche products, services and ideas to sell. That’s right, I’m talking about the rising entrepreneurial culture in India. It’s not just young startups, but an increasing number of millennials who are leveraging their experiences in diverse industries to offer niche solutions. These are exciting times! It is heartening that so many entrepreneurs are choosing to view technology as an ally, an opportunity, rather than a threat. It is this innovative thinking that will keep the cog wheels of India’s economy moving.
While knowledge of future-ready technology is essential, project management skills are a very core ingredient in the success of entrepreneurial ventures. There are skills that machines cannot replace, like managing stakeholders, meeting deadlines, managing timelines, strategic thinking, planning and more. These are accomplishments that require strong project management skills. And this is what inspired theme of the sixth Project Management Regional Conference - Project Management in Entrepreneurial Innovation.
I welcome you all to this one-day conference that will be hosted by the PMI West Bengal Chapter. As second time hosts, the chapter is geared up to offer you a fantastic delegate experience, both in terms of the content and the ambience. The conference will be held on 18th April in Kolkata and will offer a platform for you to interact, gain knowledge and share ideas with business leaders, industry experts, leading practitioners and peers from various industries.
In the past, we have not only successfully conducted eleven national level conferences, but also five regional conferences in Pune, Kochi and Kolkata. Having learnt immensely from each of these past conferences, we are confident that along with the enthusiastic chapter volunteers, we can make this regional conference a wonderful experience for you.
I invite you to come and be part of this ground-breaking event - network, learn and share! Please do bookmark the conference website so that you can stay abreast of any updates. See you at the conference!
It is a great honour to be able to host the Sixth edition of PMI Regional Conference on behalf of the PMI West Bengal Chapter. This is the second Regional Conference being hosted by our Chapter.
As our Chapter takes confident, steady steps towards completing its decade long journey, we are committed to building a strong Project Management community in the Eastern Region. Our collaboration spanning Industries, Government organizations, Educational institutes and NGOs have facilitated in bringing together practitioners from various backgrounds, binding them together with a common interest of practicing good Project management principles in their respective workplaces. This journey would not have been possible without our Chapter members and volunteers coupled with the guidance and support always extended from PMI India.
As you all know, we had planned to come together on the 18th of April, 2020 at Rajkutir, Swabhumi, to celebrate the spirit of "volunteerism" and spend a day together interacting with Industry leaders, peers and fellow practitioners. However, the current uncertainty compelled us to adapt and adopt a new normal in life and we decided to move to a virtual event.
It gives me immense honour to be the co-chair of the first ever virtual Regional Conference in India. We look forward for your active participation and I extend each and every one of you a warm welcome to the event. See you on the 20th and the 21st of June with a plethora of eminent speakers from various fields of work.
