PMI India Academic Awards

PMI India has announced three awards for recognizing Academicians who through their outstanding contributions in education, research, training, consultancy and advocacy have made extraordinary impact in establishing the role and significance of Project Management education in India.

The last date for receiving the awards nominations is - 15th November 2018

The three awards are:

(A) PMI India Distinguished Fellow Award

Name of Award PMI India Distinguished Fellow Award
Eligibility Criteria • Exceptional and outstanding leadership level contribution in the field of Project Management education, training, research, consultancy.
• Project Management institution building in the Academic or Industrial sector for competency enhancement, inter-institutional and industry-institute linkages and advocacy.
(Should continue to be active in these areas.)
Nomination by PMI India Academic Advisory Board Members, former Board Members and former Award Winners.

(B) PMI India Distinguished Scholar Award

Name of Award PMI India Distinguished Scholar Award
Eligibility Criteria Highly noteworthy contribution to Project Management research, education, training and consultancy. Contribution in the following areas would be given due consideration:
• Curriculum development, Pedagogy improvement and case studies development.
• Development of new tools and techniques for Project Management.
• Evangelism and advocacy for Project Management education for formal certification including focus on thought leadership for current PM competencies and continuous education.
• Advanced level teaching and guidance for project management education and research.
• Contribution to the development of PM standards
• Publications of high quality journal papers, books, monograms, etc.

(C) PMI India Emerging Scholar Award

Name of Award PMI India Emerging Scholar Award
Eligibility Criteria Demonstrated, quantifiable and continuing contributions (preferably more than one category ) in the following areas:

Category: Research activity undertaken during the past 5 years.
• PM Papers published in reputed / peer reviewed well known journals.
• Papers presented in conferences.
• Case studies developed and published in reputed case collections/libraries.
• Case studies developed for selected use within an academic or research or training academy of institutions.
• Doctoral and masters theses supervised.
• Monographs published.

Category: Education (Past 5 years)
• Courses taught in Project Management discipline (UG, PG and Doctoral).
• Continuing education or management development programmes conducted.
• Courses conducted for formal certification.
• Project Management evangelism demonstrated through continued commitment for advocacy and formal certification.
• Popular articles written for magazines and newspapers
• Creation of learning aids through multimedia like U-tube, Project videos, Case videos etc.
• Organization of prestigious Conferences / Symposia / Workshops such as SOM, PMI, ORSI, Service Sciences etc.
• White Papers published and or Project Management knowledge disseminated through course work books, Seminars and workshops conducted along with contribution to new teaching methodology.
• Participation in Boards of study/curriculum committees in the area of PM education.

Category: Training and advocacy
• Demonstrated training initiatives for certification and accomplished during the last 5years.
• Contribution to the development of project management standards and body of knowledge.
• Project Management evangelism through participative activities through association.
• Academic linkage initiatives with industry for Project Management education, training and certification.
• Organization of Conferences/Symposia/Workshops for Various professional bodies.
• Evangelical articles written for newspapers/magazines, etc.

  1. The PMI India Distinguished Fellow Award is a Lifetime Achievement award. Nominations in this category, willFellow Award is a Lifetime Achievement be accepted only through PMI India Academic Advisory Board Members, former Board Members and former Award Winners.
  2. Previous Winners of the PMI India Distinguished Scholar Award and the PMI India Emerging Scholar Award will be eligible for nomination in the current year only if three years have elapsed since winning the award.
  3. Track record of last five years would be considered.
