Award Categories

PMI South Asia has established a number of awards to recognize and honor contributions and achievements in the project management profession. PMI South Asia has been administering the PMI Awards Program on an annual basis since 2009. PMI South Asia has come out with the following award categories which will be announced as part of the PMI South Asia Conference 2022.

  • Project of the Year
  • Project of the Year - Contribution to the Community
  • Project of the Year - NGO

This award recognizes and honors a project team that has delivered superior results through exemplary application of project management principles in any of the following categories of projects.

1. Category Large
A project or program or similar initiative which has actual project cost of more than USD 0.14 Billion
For Project of the Year - Large projects, the project should have been completed between the period of April 1, 2019 and March 31, 2022
2. Category Medium
A project or program or similar initiative which has actual project cost between USD 14 Million to USD 0.14 Billion
For Project of the Year - Medium projects, the project should have been completed between the period of April 1, 2020 and March 31, 2022
3. Category Small
A project or program or similar initiative which has actual project cost between USD 700,000 to USD 14 Million
For Project of the Year - Small, the project should have been completed between the period of April 1, 2021 and March 31, 2022
4. Category Micro
A project or program or similar initiative which has actual project cost less than USD 700,000 but more than USD 70,000
For Project of the Year - Micro, the project should have been completed between the period of April 1, 2021 and March 31, 2022

This award recognizes and honors significant initiatives undertaken by corporate bodies or organizations (as part of their Corporate Social Responsibilities activities) towards improvement and well-being of the community. It can be a project, program or similar initiative and must demonstrate application of project management principles in delivering benefits to the community.

For Project of the Year - Contribution to Community, the project should have been completed between the period of April 1, 2021 and March 31, 2022.

This award recognizes and honors a project team that has achieved superior results through exemplary application of project management principles for projects, programs or similar initiatives implemented by Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). This category excludes the efforts undertaken by corporate bodies or organizations as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility activities.

For Project of the Year - NGO, the project should have been completed between the period of April 1, 2021 and March 31, 2022.

General Submission Guidelines
Purpose

This award recognizes and honors a project team that has delivered superior results through exemplary application of project management principles.

Any project or an significant independent phase of a project that is perceived as having effectively applied project management principles and techniques is eligible to apply provided that:

The project falls under one of the following categories:

Project of the Year Award Category - Large Any large project implemented by an Organization from the private or public sector, with cost of USD 0.14 Billion or more.

Project should have been completed between the period of April 1, 2019 and March 31, 2022.
Category - Medium Any medium size project implemented by an Organization from the private or public sector, with cost range of USD 14 Million to USD 0.14 Billion.

Project should have been completed between the period of April 1, 2020 and March 31, 2022.
Category - Small Any project implemented by an Organization from the private or public sector, with project cost between USD 700,000 to USD 14 Million

Project should have been completed between the period of April 1, 2021 and March 31, 2022.
Category - Micro Any project implemented by an Organization from the private or public sector, with budgeted cost less than USD 700,000 but more than USD 70,000.

Project should have been completed between the period of April 1, 2021 and March 31, 2022.
Project of the Year - Contribution to the Community (CSR) Projects of any size implemented by an organization from the private or public sector as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.

Project should have been completed between the period of April 1, 2021 and March 31, 2022.
Project of the Year - NGO Projects of any size implemented by Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs)

All organizations registered in India as Trusts, Societies and Section 8 companies or registered as per specific governing laws in the other countries under PMI South Asia region, that have been working for a minimum of three years on social and environmental transformation are eligible.

Organizations that propagate political or religious doctrines are excluded from participation.

Project should have been completed between the period of April 1, 2021 and March 31, 2022.

Note: The primary criteria for classification as Large, Medium or Small will be the budgeted cost of Project. However, if need be the applicant's project may be re-classified by PMI keeping in mind the data furnished on project time-line and effort.

Number of Awards

For each category, a maximum of one Winner and one Runner-up will be identified out of the nominations received.

Presentation of the Award and Recognition

The Recipients will be presented with the awards at the PMI South Asia Conference 2022, being held in December this year. PMI South Asia will acknowledge the Winner and Runner up of the awards at specified PMI events and also through their e-magazine - Manage South Asia and any other PMI or non-PMI Publications. The Project Manager or a person designated by the project team should be available to receive the award.

Submission Requirements
Written consent/support by owner and/or client recognizing the submittal of the project and stating that the project has been accepted as complete
A written agreement of relevant stakeholders to assist in preparing a Showcase Project article to be published in PMI Publications and marketing articles
Nomination Procedure

The application process will be in two stages - Preliminary and Final.

Stage 1 - Preliminary

Step 1: The nominee will submit online 'Preliminary information' about the nomination before May 23, 2022 on the PMI South Asia Conference 2022 website using the link http://www.pmi.org.in/awards/

The nominee will provide the Preliminary Information by answering a set of questions on the online portal. At this stage, the nominee does not have to upload any documents as attachments except project completion certificate required for Micro, Small, Medium and Large categories and Registration Form for NGO category.

Step 2: The nominee's application at this stage will be evaluated by a panel of volunteer jury members and the results will be intimated by email by PMI South Asia by July, 4, 2022.

Stage 2 - Final

Step 1: The nominee will have to submit online 'Final information' about the nomination before August 1, 2022 on the PMI South Asia Conference 2022 website using the link and login credentials as done in Stage 1.

Step 2: The nominee's application at this stage will be evaluated by a panel of volunteer jury members and PMI will intimate the results by email by August 30, 2022. Those successful at this stage will become the shortlisted nominees for the award. A maximum of 6 nominees will be considered for each category of award. The final winner and runner up will be chosen in the next step.

Step 3: The nominee's application at this stage will be finally evaluated/validated by an elite panel of jury members comprising of individuals of national/international repute. PMI will announce the results (but not specifically as winner or runner-up) by email/phone by October 3, 2022.

Award Nominator Eligibility

The 'Award Nominee' could be a sponsor, a senior member of the project team viz. equivalent of Project Manager, Program Manager, Project Director or a senior representative of the organization.

Verification Process and Selection

The 'Project of the Year' award evaluation will be done by an "at-large" panel of jury, established by PMI South Asia / Organizing committee. Two nominations will be selected as the Winner and Runner-up for each award category. Selection will be made by October 3, 2022. The results of the PMI South Asia Awards Program will be communicated to the awardees by the organizing committee. Formal announcement of the winner shall be made at the PMI South Asia Conference to be held in Mumbai in December 2022.
