  1. Plan, launch, guide, monitor, control and suitably modify the initiative in selected region/sector/industry/company.
  2. Provide updates to PMI India Lead and the Chairman of the Champions Program on a predetermined time frame.
  3. To Recruit, Select and Induct Champions.
  4. Work in close relation with PMI India, the Chairman and other members of the Champions Program.
  5. Guide the Champions to deliver results for the program by coordinating with the champions, PMI India and CAC.
  6. Provide Leadership oversight to the Champions.
  7. Identify and qualify any potential opportunities or risks and work towards appropriate execution.
  8. Adhere to all policies of PMI, PMI India and CAC.
  1. The Chair shall be the Team Lead for the Committee, and shall perform such duties as are customary for presiding officers, including making all required appointments with the approval of the CAC.
  2. The Chair will be responsible for the overall functioning of the Committee, assuring that the Committee works together as a team, dedicated to achieving the Program vision, mission and objectives as detailed in the Charter.
  3. Act as Chair of the Committee and direct the Committee's strategic goals.
  4. Schedule, provide agendas and preside over all CAC meetings.
  5. Direct the activities of other members toward Programs goals and objectives.
  6. Appoint sub-committee and sub-committee's chairperson representatives to task teams as required and subject to the Committee's approval.
  7. Invite key influencers from industry to participate in Program events.
The Committee shall meet at the call of the Committee Chair or PMI India Managing Director. Each member shall be entitled to one (1) vote and may take part and vote in person only. In case of a tie, the Committee Chair shall have the right to exercise a casting vote to break the tie. At its discretion, the Committee may conduct its business by teleconference, facsimile or other acceptable means. Meetings shall be conducted in accordance with parliamentary procedures determined by the Committee.
The Committee may grant leave of absence to a Member who is unable to attend the meeting due to exceptional circumstances on receipt of prior intimation of the same.
The Committee shall declare a Member position to be vacant where a Member ceases to be a member in good standing of PMI, or where the Member fails to attend two (2) consecutive Committee meetings.
A Member may resign by submitting written notice to the Chair or PMI India Managing Director. Unless another time is specified in the notice, the resignation shall be effective upon receipt of the written notice.
A Member may be removed from office for just cause in connection with the affairs of the Committee by PMI India Managing Director.
If any Member position becomes vacant, PMI India Managing Director may appoint a successor to fill the office for the unexpired portion of the term for the vacant position.
Pilot program was launched in the month of August 2010. The objective of pilot program was to run the concept in a small group and see how the results were, study the challenges and validate the feasibility of this program's success if launched across India. Bengaluru was selected as a pilot location. IT sector was selected as a candidate for Pilot.
  1. CAC was constituted from set of passionate Sr. Practitioners who were already volunteering for PMI in several ways.
  2. The Chairman of CAC was elected as against nominated by PMI India
  3. Champions were also from known groups, through the local Chapters.
  4. Governance of the Program was well thought through, documented and reviewed by CAC before it was implemented.
  5. CAC Member was assigned one (1) or more champions and them meeting the objective was the responsibility of the respective CAC Member.
  6. However, Governance of the CAC was found to be falling apart, as members got busy on their regular work schedules.
  7. Where ever there was good connect and communication (per governance guide) between the CAC member and the respective champions, there was momentum.
  8. Constant communication motivated the champions to work towards the objective - a phone/conference call once in a month is absolutely mandatory to keep the ball rolling.
  9. Connect between the CAC Member and PMI India also proved to be a very effective way to keep the momentum going.
