On April 11, Utkarsh Kikani, MCA from Surat, with over 16 years of experience, gave an overview of the telecom domain in a seminar. He covered various aspects of the telecom industry, and highlighted the need for project management here.
This was followed by a session by Hemant Urdhwareshe, a mechanical engineer with a post-graduate diploma in business administration, with 28 years of experience. He explained how, with Six Sigma, companies are improving their bottomline and customer satisfaction, and reducing waste.
On May 9, members heard Nina Godbole on the ‘Importance of security in global delivery projects.’ Nina Godbole has more than 12 years’ experience in the area of ERP, quality audits, information security and data privacy in various capacities. Godbole highlighted the need for information security in global delivery projects. She spoke about privacy issues, present and emerging threats, and risks associated with outsourcing.
The same day, the next session was on the banking and finance sector, and was conducted by Abhijit Bhate and Amrish Sharma, PMP. Sharma has over 18 years of experience in various sectors, with extensive exposure to business and technology. Bhate, a banking professional with over 11 years of experience, has worked in various capacities in several leading organizations in this sector. The speakers gave an overview of the sector and its need for project management.
On May 12, the Pune chapter organized a seminar on ‘Responsibility sharing between project managers and system engineers.’ It was addressed by Carl J. Dister, who has over 25 years of experience in product development. Dister is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE), and certified in both PMP and CSEP. Dister spoke about how the project manager and systems engineer/tech lead can come together in today’s world to run projects effectively. He also discussed certifications and their benefits for program managers, project managers and systems engineers.
