PMI signs skill devpt pact with Symbiosis

PUNE: The Pune Deccan Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI) recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Symbiosis International University (SIU) to promote skill development amongst students and to give them opportunities to interact with industry experts through various platforms facilitated by PMI on a regular basis.

A statement issued by the SIU said the Symbiosis Centre for Information Technology is already a Registered Education Provider (REP) with PMI to impart project management skills to its students as a part of its curriculum. Additionally, PMI India has also announced an endowment program for students who pass out of the college and wish to pursue project management as a subject of choice.

The signed MoU was exchanged between president of PMI Pune Deccan chapter Girish Kadam and Vidya Yeravdekar, principal director, Symbiosis Society. The aim of such an association is to provide students with an opportunity to interact with industry experts on a regular basis and help them develop industry-ready talent.

PMI has entered into similar tie ups with other premier institutes like SP Jain Institute of Management Research, Karunya University, University Of Petroleum and Energy Studies, L&T Institute of Project Management, Pandit Dindayal Petroleum University and Amity University among others to encourage more students to take up project management as a profession, added the statement.
