Work for a carbon-neutral India: Kalam | Sep 10, 2011

Former President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam urged state governments to work towards making India a carbon neutral state.Dr Kalam was inaugurating the Bangalore chapter of the Project Management National Conference 2011 hosted by Project Management Institute (PMI) here on Thursday.He also asked the PMI to discuss energy independence in India.“For every litre of petrol, each vehicle generates 2 kg of carbon dioxide (CO2). Each year, a total of 30 billion tons of CO2 is generated, severely damaging the atmosphere. We must realise that we are importing CO2 along with oil that we are purchasing form other countries. So I request chief ministers of all the states to work towards making our country a carbon-neutral state,” he said.....
