Message from Raj Kalady, Managing Director, PMI (India)

Dear Practitioner,

I'm pleased to announce that the fourth PMI India National Conference will take place on 28-30 September 2012 at The Leela in Chennai. The theme for this year is "Project Management for Sustainable Competitive Advantage".

This conference will be co-hosted by PMI Chennai Chapter and PMI Kerala Chapter. I'm confident that the coordinated efforts of two chapters will give us a bigger and better experience to the delegates. The attendees to the conference will benefit from the diverse ideas, the wealth of experience of the leaders of these two chapters, and a wide volunteer base.

As you are aware, we have had three highly successful national conferences so far. Our conferences have drawn industry leaders, policy-makers, academicians, and project management champions. We have met delegate expectations in terms of the quality of speakers and discussions, and knowledge sharing and networking opportunities. This year, too, efforts will go in to make it an enriching experience for you.

The theme for the conference, "Project Management for Sustainable Competitive Advantage", has been carefully crafted to reflect the challenges of the times in which we live. In a globalized world where market dynamics are more pronounced and their impact on your business is much higher, attaining sustainable competitive advantage has become critical. Without a clear, sustained market differentiator, businesses today cannot survive and grow. Project management is the bridge which connects the Organizational Strategy to actual results and thereby achieve competitive advantage. I expect the conference to throw more light on it and help practitioners stay in touch with developments and thus stay ahead of the curve.

Block your calendar for the three days of the conference. We will be updating this micro site regularly. I encourage you to check it for updates about the conference in the weeks ahead. I look forward to seeing you at the conference.

Regards,

Raj Kalady
Managing Director, PMI India

Message from Karthik K Ramamurthy, Conference Chairman

Dear Project Management practitioner,

Warm greetings from sunny Chennai!

Wider scope, shorter time lines & tighter budgets: Today's intensely competitive times demand all of us to consistently deliver more with less.

It is imperative that we need to be extremely efficient to effectively ward off competition.

Our nation is also on an ambitious growth path with considerable investments: USD One Trillion being invested in Infrastructure projects alone leading up to 2020. It goes without saying that Project, Program & Portfolio Managers will have a big role to play in ensuring success.

Leveraging proven best practices in Project, Program and Portfolio management will certainly help individuals, organisations and our nation immensely.

How can we help?

Enter Project Management National Conference 2012.

With well over a thousand national & international delegates, speakers and invitees, this is our country's largest Conference on Project Management. We will be building on the hat-trick of successes of our past conferences at Hyderabad, Mumbai and Bengaluru.

Aptly themed "Project Management for Sustainable Competitive Advantage", the event aims at delivering valuable insights and knowledge on cutting edge topics. The word "Sustainable" in the conference theme signifies both long-term advantage and being Earth-friendly.

Effective delivery mechanisms include:
  • Keynote addresses by an array of international thought leaders
  • Power Panel discussions with industry experts
  • The best Technical papers from the brightest minds in India and abroad
  • Case studies of project success
  • A new format in this conference: A very stimulating "Big Debate" on an extremely relevant topic.
You will enrich the conference by sharing your valuable views and perspectives. And there is more! You will network with a unique set of attendees who are eager to learn the latest - your fellow peers from industry.

Jointly organized by PMI India and the eight PMI Chapters in India, this is an event planned for and delivered entirely by volunteers. We are working hard to set a new benchmark and indeed "practicing what we preach" by using the same PM Best practices and tools PMI globally recommends.

Our venue is the Leela Palace at Chennai, a spanking new hotel with world-class Conference facilities.

We as a team really look forward to welcoming you at the Conference on 28th September 2012 for an excellent three days of valuable knowledge sharing and fun.

See you in Chennai soon!

Karthik K Ramamurthy, PMP
Conference Chairman

Message from Rajeev Rajasekhara Panicker, Conference Co-Chair

Dear Project Management Practitioner,

This year the PMI National Conference is being co-hosted by the Kerala and Chennai chapters of PMI and PMI India with the support from rest of the chapters in India. On behalf of the conference committee and all the PMI chapters in India, it is my pleasure to welcome each one of you to The Leela Palace from 28-30 Sep 2012 to attend this conference. We would like to thank you for the support you have extended to us in the past 3 years and would like to assure you that this year also, you will have the privilege to listen to eminent speakers from various domains.

In this competitive world, it is very important to differentiate yourself to stay ahead of the competition and to provide value to the employees, investors, customers and society at large. It is even more difficult to manage and sustain this advantage. The more you differentiate, the more sustainable the competitive advantage is. Hence we are bringing to you this year the conference theme - 'Project Management for Sustainable Competitive Advantage'. We are sure; you will have lots of learning to take away from this conference.

All of us are looking forward for your active involvement this year also in the form of participation, networking and volunteering. We would also like to hear from you in case you would like to share any feedback from your experiences in the past conferences. We would like to provide you even greater experience this time.

Wishing you a great time at the conference!

Rajeev Rajasekhara Panicker
Conference Co-Chair

Message from P Ramasubramaniam & Sanjay Bhaskaran, Conference Directors

Dear Practitioner,

Greetings!

We're glad to inform you that the fourth PMI India Project Management National Conference will be held at The Leela Palace, Chennai. The conference, being jointly organized by PMI Chennai Chapter and PMI Kerala Chapter, will offer you an enjoyable and enriching experience.

We are today faced with extreme competition to accomplish our goals, whether in the official and personal front. We have limited resources at our disposal and need to balance a thin line between success and failure. Our approach, process, and methodology have to change swiftly keeping in mind how dynamic today's industry and market are.

We, at PMI, advocate a structured framework to enable us to deal with today's challenges. We are globally visible as a country with economical prowess and technological capabilities. Being at the global market also means having to equip ourselves to compete globally. To sustain in our businesses, we need to bring in a differentiator. Innovation is a much talked about topic these days; innovation will lead us to do things differently and more cost effectively. Now is the time for project managers to hone their innovation skills and use them to implement their projects.

Let us join in to listen from great leaders how innovation has helped them to manage global competition at the PMI India National Conference 2012. The conference Project Management Office (PMO) will follow a structured approach. This will not only help us to run the conference smoothly but also help passionate delegates to learn, share, and experience the PMI life. The conference PMO's relentless effort would guarantee to deliver a conference of superior quality. The methodical planning, work breakdown structure, and critical path driven execution would ensure the success of this conference. We also believe in a team driven approach.
