About Project Management Research & Academic Conference

As Project Management has become a critical competency of organizations, the profession has experienced unprecedented growth and recognition. Organizations around the world are turning to the profession to improve their efficiency and trim costs. Over the last decade, globalization has placed ever-more complex demands on organizations. At the same time, massive technological change has created an interconnected, 24/7 world that presents companies with an array of challenges and opportunities that couldn't even be imagined in the past.

At the center of this new world order is project management.

Simply put: Project management provides a structured yet flexible framework for tackling a wide array of initiatives faster, better and in a more cost-efficient manner.

It is no accident, then, that demand for project professionals is increasing markedly. In 2009, U.S. News and World Report ranked project management as the third-most valued skill by employers, behind only leadership/negotiation skills and business analysis. Academia has been proactive in this endeavor and the number of educational programs with Project Management related subjects can now be found in colleges as diverse as business, construction management, healthcare, pharmacy, finance, engineering and information technology.

In light of the above developments, PMI India is pleased to announce the first Project Management Research and Academic Conference 2011 with the theme "Getting India ready in a Project Driven Economy - Role of Academia" with the support of the PMI India Academic Advisory Group.

The conference aims to bring together an audience of scholars, senior practitioners and students of Project Management and allied disciplines. It will provide opportunities for attendees to present and discuss new project management research findings and teaching methods.

The event will feature plenary speakers and peer reviewed technical papers and additionally provide opportunities for discussions and networking and take away useful knowledge to help your institution.

This platform will also commemorate and recognize a few noted academicians for their exceptional and outstanding contribution to the field of Project Management related education and research. The Project Management Institute invites all those interested in the teaching of project management in higher education to attend the PMI Research and Academic Conference 2011.

The call for Technical papers has already been announced on the website. The registration dates for the conference will be announced shortly.
